Q. How far in advance should we book our charter?
A. As soon as you are positive about the date and time you are booking, BOOK IT. We cannot guarantee a date will be available without a deposit.
Q. How many people does your yacht hold?
A. We are Coast Guard Certified to hold 49 passengers.
Q. What is your typical cruising route?
A. Upon leaving Burnham Harbor we head north towards Navy Pier, viewing the Museum Campus area, Chicago's Famous Skyline, Buckingham Fountain..., enter into the Chicago River Locks and into the Chicago River for a tour of the City (tour guides available for an additional fee). Upon exiting the Chicago River Locks we will head further North towards North Avenue Beach and turn back towards Burnham Harbor.
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. The charter fee is forfeited should the client, for any reason, decide to cancel. Weather condition options to be determined by Chicago Private Yacht Rentals. If bad weather persists, client’s charter fee will be applied to another available date. If weather conditions improve and client canceled early, there will be no refund.
Q. What types of events can be hosted on the yacht?
A. Anything you can think of! In the past, we have hosted corporate luncheons, client thank-yous, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, quincenearas, family outings, memorial services, post-proms, bachelor and bachelorette parties, fireworks cruises, and architectural tours. The possibilities are endless.
Q. What kind of Bathrooms do you have?
A. if it were a home it would be a two and a half bath house, for a boat their relatively good sized. Note; since being on a yacht please conserve water when using them and on all sleep aboard stays an additional charge for empting the holding tank. no extra charges apply in regards to empting the holding tank for short term hourly charters or trips.
Q. Is there certain hours that we can schedule a cruise during a vacation or overnight stay?
A. No, with advance notice a coast guard certified captain can be provided 24 hours a day.
Q. Is the kitchen good enough to cook light meals in?
A. Yes, and that’s about it, breakfasts, small lunches and lighter dinners at best. we have smaller fry pans and pots available along with table settings for 10.
Q. Do you supply linens, blankets and towels?
A. Yes, we supply the linens and blankets but you should bring your own towels. Note; we can supply towels with advanced notice but it would be an additional charge of $15.00 each.
Q. Do you require a security deposit?
A. Yes, several kinds of deposits are required depending on how and for what reason you want to use the yacht, just to hold the dates for you on any type of yacht rental there is a 500.00 deposit required at time of booking.
Q. How far are you from any attractions?
A. Were located within walking distance to the Shed Aquarium, Solders field, Planetarium, Northerly Island and its beach and a 5 to 10 minute cab / car ride from most others.
Q. Is there a Captain and crew?
A. Yes. All our yacht charter cruises are fully crewed with Captain, Deckhands and full serving staff as needed.
We do not have any type of "bareboat" charter rentals.
Q. How does one pack for a yacht vacation?
A. If you’re staying for any length of time please pack your clothes in soft type duffel bags ( also can be used for shopping trips) we do have limited hanging closet space in each stateroom. DO NOT BRING large suitcases! There is limited storage space on yachts and most of all, once empty they are useless and will be in your cabin taking up valuable space.
Q. Do I need to have food?
A. All depends, We don't like our guests drinking alcohol without food and getting sick. Once you're out on a cruise, there's no place to get off. Our food options are as little as snacks, hors d'oeuvres / appetizers or deli trays to sandwiches and carry out menu’s. we do not have a full menu like other yacht rentals or charters. ( we just don’t like “booze cruises” only)
Q. Can I bring my own food?
A. yes, for hourly cruises or charters you can BYO food, have food delivered to you at the dock or have it lightly catered. Additional "galley" fees are charged for any of these options. Ask us for details. if you’re here on a vacation or for live aboard overnight stays on the yacht it’s a yes. Ask us for details on this too .
Q.Can I bring my own alcohol?
A. Yes, for overnight stays, vacations or weekend getaways (there may be limitations), and No for all other larger occasions, events or cruises. Liquor license laws prohibit this.
